Lisa Winn
Lisa Factor Winn has always had a career with horses. After growing up in the Los Angeles area and attending UCLA, she turned her head strictly to show horses. With a career spanning decades, Lisa is a wealth of knowledge, and her passion for horses, teaching, and the sport has maintained a longevity many aspire to achieve. She is a prominent and highly sought trainer in Los Angeles.
Lisa started riding as a child with Onondarka in Newhall. As an amateur, she rode successfully with Jeff Katz and Leslie Steele. It was training with Steele that Lisa’s talents as a trainer and rider landed her a job with Steele and, eventually, a position with Far West Farms.
Showcasing her talents while working with Far West for over 30 years, she trained numerous riders who became professionals, including Jamie Taylor, Katie Taylor, Ashlee Bond, and Karen Perlow. She coached many riders to their first medal final wins, such as Taylor in the LA County Horsemanship Finals and Bond in the SFHJA Challenge Medal Final.
Lisa is active in the Los Angeles show community, serving on various boards and committees. She served as President of the San Fernando Horse Show Association for six years and has been a member for over 26 years. Additionally, Lisa was Vice President of the Los Angeles Horse Show Association for two years and a board member for 24 years. She also served three years on the CPHA Foundation board.
Lisa and Jessica teamed up 28 years ago at Far West Farms and proved to be a strong force on the local circuit. Together they run Cerulean Farms out of Bell Canyon and couldn’t be happier.
Jessica Rabbiner
Jessica Rabbiner has been helping riders achieve their goals for nearly 30 years. Her teaching focuses on riders as individuals and their unique partnership with their horses. She wants to bring out the best in every student and every horse by building confidence, developing riders’ skills, and honing each rider’s talents in a safe, encouraging environment.
Jessica started riding at the age of six in upstate New York. She was President of the Equestrian Team at the University of Southern California, where she graduated with a BFA in Cinema-Television. It was through the USC Equestrian Team that Jessica and Lisa met, forging a lifelong friendship and solid working relationship.
Jessica worked simultaneously in the film industry and with horses until she and Lisa opened Cerulean Farms in late 2021. Jessica left the film industry behind and is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her experience and life-long passion with her students.
“I’ve been riding with Lisa Winn for many years and I’ve known Jessica for a slightly shorter time. I would follow them anywhere and so here we are at Cerulean Farms. I cannot say enough how well the move/transition has been. First of all, the barn itself is beautiful with all the “horsey” amenities, located in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Lisa and Jessica have put hours of hard work into providing a professional experience for owners and those coming for daily lessons. The atmosphere is always fun and supportive. If you’re looking for a professional barn to continue to improve your riding, or yourself and your horse, this is the place. Come and join the family. Go Cerulean Farms!”
